Strong title and impact match; evidence coverage is the gap. Tailor the two requirements you can't yet back before applying.

How the score works

Four signals decide whether a role is worth your time.

The fit score sums four signals into a single 0–100 number. A hard dealbreaker — wrong level, wrong location — caps the score no matter how strong the rest looks. No keyword stuffing, no black box.

Role match

How closely the title and seniority line up with the roles you actually want — and a dealbreaker flag when it's the wrong level entirely.

Core impact

Whether the work the role is really asking for matches the kind of impact you've delivered before — not just surface keyword overlap.

Logistics

Location, work mode, and the practical constraints that quietly rule a role in or out before you spend an evening tailoring for it.

Evidence coverage

How much of the role's requirements you can back with real, verifiable career evidence — the gap that decides later interview rounds.

What your score means

A score is a decision, not a grade.

Every score maps to one of four recommendations, so you always know the next action.

RecommendationScoreWhat to do
Tier 1 · Apply now85–100Strong fit. Worth a tailored, evidence-backed application.
Tier 2 · Apply70–84Good fit. Apply — tailor the gaps the score surfaces.
Tier 3 · Review40–69Partial fit. Decide if the gaps are worth the tailoring effort.
Ignore0–39 / dealbreakerBelow the bar, or a hard dealbreaker. Spend the hour elsewhere.

Why score a job description first

Job searches are won by where you don't apply.

Stop tailoring for roles that won't convert

Tailoring an application well takes an evening. The score tells you which roles deserve it before you start.

See the gap that loses later rounds

A role can look great on title and still leave you short on evidence. The score surfaces that gap while you can still close it.

Catch the dealbreakers early

Wrong level, wrong location, wrong scope — the score flags the hard stops before you've invested an hour.

Job description fit score — common questions

What is a job description fit score?

A job description fit score is a 0–100 estimate of how well a specific role matches your target level, the impact you've delivered, and your practical constraints. Job Seeker OS scores role match, core impact, logistics, and how much of the role you can back with real evidence, then gives a tier — Apply now, Apply, Review, or Ignore — so you can decide whether a role is worth applying to before you spend hours tailoring.

Is this an ATS resume checker?

No. An ATS checker grades your resume against keyword filters. This scores the role itself — is it worth applying to, at your level, given your evidence — so you triage where to spend your time. It will not tell you to stuff keywords to beat a parser.

How is the score calculated?

The score sums four signals: role and seniority match, the core impact the role is really asking for, logistics like location and work mode, and how much of the requirements you can back with verifiable evidence. A hard dealbreaker — wrong level, wrong location — caps the score regardless of the rest.

What is a good fit score?

70 and above means apply. 85 and above is a strong fit worth a fully tailored application. Between 40 and 69, weigh whether the gaps are worth closing. Below 40, or with a dealbreaker, your time is usually better spent on a role that fits.

Do you store my job description?

No. Pasted job descriptions are scored in your private workspace and are never sent to third-party analytics or sold. Your search stays yours.

Is the job description fit score free?

Yes. Scoring job descriptions is free in Job Seeker OS. You create a free workspace to keep your scored roles, evidence, and applications in one place.
